The Steven Myron Holl foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports several artistic projects, including the art gallery 'T' Space, the videopolemic series 32BNY and the archive material at Steven Holl Architects.

MISSION

  1. UNITE the architecture, art, poetry and music of our time. The cross-inspiration of the arts through history, a pursuit of fundamental importance, is a core purpose of the Steven Myron Holl Foundation.

  2. REFLECT at a time when art and architecture have become  increasingly financial instruments.  The Steven Myron Holl Foundation is dedicated to reflecting on the meanings of art and architecture, with the aim of educating the public by facilitating dialogue among living artists. 

  3. COMMISSION new works and experimental collaborations. By commissioning artists, we foster hybrid combinations of new thought. 

  4. EDUCATE through the arts, music and poetry, providing an enriched architectural education, including a summer architecture fellowship and academic tours. 

  5. RENEW the deep connection of the arts, humanity and the natural landscape.  The Steven Myron Holl Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of our forested natural habitat.  
     

STEVEN HOLL: MAKING ARCHITECTURE

Please join us Feb. 10, 5-7pm at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art for the opening of the exhibition Steven Holl: Making Architecture curated by Nina Stritzler-Levine. The exhibition will be on view until July 15th and will beginning its international tour in 2019, organized by the Steven Myron Holl Foundation. 

Steven Holl has managed to maintain, over 40 years of practice, the integrity and quality of his work by resisting corporatization, revealing an inextricable link between art and architecture. This exhibition, part of the Dorsky Museum’s “Hudson Valley Masters Series” will reveal his intricate and distinctive process of making architecture.

Th exhibition features about 100 objects, including watercolors, presentation and study models, construction photos, prototypes, carpets, and publications.  Objects are sourced from 11 recent projects, among them the Arts Building at Franklin and Marshall College, Pennsylvania; The Kennedy Center Expansion, Washington D.C.; and Maggie’s Cancer Care Center in London.

in May 2018, please join the Steven Myron Holl Foundation and AIA New York for a preview of Library, A Social Condenser and a conversation with Steven Holl, the book’s editor and filmmakers.  Library, A Social Condenser follows the story of the design, development and construction of the Hunters Point Community Library in New York City. The library, a project in development for seven years, is the outcome of an uncompromising fight to keep a realized structure faithful to its original conception in the face of numerous attempts on the part of private developers to influence the use of this contested site.

32BNY

32BNY began as a printed publication with 32 pages and 32 nodes in a 32cm x 32cm format, a rhizomatic experiment linking New York and Beijing. The first three editions were printed in Beijing, in Mandarin and English in an edition of 10,000. In 2013, 32BNY was reformed a a videopolemic.
'T' SPACE

'T' SPACE

'T' Space aims to offer an educational fusion of music, poetry, architecture and art of the 21st century. Merged with the lush natural greenery of Round Lake in Dutchess County, NY, 'T' Space drew 300 visitors to the poetry reading of Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge and the sculptural exhibit of Richard Tuttle.

The Steven Myron Holl Foundation will become the steward of all intellectual property of Steven Holl Architects, including all designs, drawings, paintings, models, books and archival material. The archive will include over 1200 models, 3300 books, 20,000 individual watercolors and assorted furniture, artwork, correspondence, drawing sets, material samples and photograph
